  • ART A-LA-CARTE : We are proud to promote many artisans of the Northwest here at Moosemommas. They are spectacular people, so be sure and check out our workshops. Try something different, learn to weave, paint, creat mosaics or just enjoy the nature this place provides. It's a wonderful feeling to just be here away from your busy life. So sign up for the workshops you would like to do this summer and enjoy!

Not Included: Transportation to and from the airport. Closest Airport: Spokane International Airport, Spokane, Washington. (2 hours away) You will also need your own transportation to the various excursions, rental vehicle is recommended if not bringing your own. PAINTING CLASSES

Oil Painting Without Fear
ALL LEVELS WELCOME

Have you ever wanted to learn how to Paint With Oils, but didn't know how to start? Then this is the Painting Workshop for you. It's fun and lively and you won't believe your eyes what you can do with Linda's Workshop "Color of Light". Whether you've painted before or have always wanted to learn, then sign up now for this one-of-a-kind Class. She just loves to teach!


Cost: $75.00 per person per day; A minimal materials list will be sent upon registration

Dottie's Watercolor workshop will show you a more personal approach to using shape, value and color so you can create a unique painting of your own personal style. Deborah Pegg's Creative Watermedia will inspire you in a positive way to loosen up and have fun while you paint. The sky's the limit with Deb as she will demonstrate Pouring and Blending while emphasizing Texture and Collage techniques for a truly invigorating workshop.

NATURE JOURNALING - Experience Nature

This is a fascinating workshop using a sketch journal, pen and watercolors to explore your personal connection to Nature and develop a "Sence of Place". Learn to see, draw and write your responses to the natural world with Marilyn's easy approach to drawing. What a great legacy of your life to pass on to your children or grandchildren. FIBER ARTS


BASKETS LIKE CRAZY

This dynamic workshop will have you weaving with natural materials, such as birch bark, sea grass, braided iris leaves and assorted reed. Bone and Driftwood will be used for handles or embellishments. You'll love this workshop. Sign up NOW!

THE ANTLER BASKET "A Two day workshop"

In This inspiring workshop, you will learn Free Form Basket weaving techniques using antlers, colorful leathers, round Reed and sea grass. Diana's class is the culmination of 30 years of weaving, teaching and learning. She blends the historical with the present through embellishment and form. Discover the excitement of this ancient art of basket weaving.

MOSAICS & GLASS ARTS

Sara McTavish has been doing stained glass professionally in Sandpoint for 7 years, and owns "Skeleton Key Art Glass", where she teaches and fabricates custom glass creations. In these workshops, you will learn to creat mosaic mirrors and picture frames, glass jewelry, beveled glass suncatchers, and more. With color, texture and individual creativity, there are limitless possibilities. You will cut, glue, copper foil, solder and patina all pieces into finished creations. If you ever wanted to learn about mosaics or any glass arts, then this is the workshop for you.

GOURD FEVER - A Two Day Workshop

Sheri has been a Fiber Artist for 25 years and has excelled in weaving, spinning, quilting, basket making and gourd art. She and her husband live on a small acreage farm in Washington with horses, chickens and they operate a local Market Garden.

In Gourd Fever, you will learn pyrophraphy, new cutting techniques, dyes, paints, and rims of fibers and beads. In this 2 day workshop emphasis will be on inlays, carvings, finishes, design and much more. With all her talents, you will be energized "How to Think Creatively", as she demonstrates her special hands-on-techniques. A lively workshop quaranteed to "Fire you up" with Gourd Fever.

FABRIC ARTS

FABRIC COLLAGE - full day

Explore an interesting technique of building a design with layered fabrics and no fusible web. Start your own design with hands on instruction, then advance to a new level experimenting with decorative threads. You will make a supurb work of art!

STITCHIN' SISTERS

Get your Yarn & Fabric Fix. Stitchin' Sisters is a wonderful shop just north of Sandpoint and are providing Moosemomma Gals wonderful workshops to sign up for.

  • Learn to knit and crochet - $25.00
  • Quilting with Terrie (A Snippets Workshop) - $50.00 including materials.

They have so many wonderful fabrics to choose, so spend the day with the Sisters and make some beautiful ART with fabric.

BEGINNING WEAVING

Sue is a wonderful weaver and will start you off with your own loom while you create a scarf of your own. With her great hands-on techiques, you will warp your loom and weave a scarf. In this workshop you will learn a variety of weave patterns, color selection, finishing techniques and how to use fabrics to weave in your future woven projects. Choose the large loom (15") or the small loom (8").

TRADITIONAL WOOL HOOKING RUG WORKSHOP

Join Rachel to learn the art of hooking stripped wood into beautiful works of art. She will take you from the blank canvas to the finishing techniques you will need to complete your project. The kit contains all your supplies to finish your project. This is an all day class. Cost $100 for the workshop. ($25 for instruction and $75 for the kit.)

BASIC DOLL WORKSHOP

Martha has developed her original doll pattern with simple face sculpting and one-of-a-kind costuming. In each workshop, you will make a fabulous doll for yourself or that special someone. She is a thorough teacher and will help you through every step of the pattern with her special tips and tricks of the trade. This is an exciting new workshop and guaranteed to be a lot of fun! It takes two days to finish the doll.

PAINT YOUR OWN POTTERY

You won't want to miss this dynamic pottery workshop where she brings her mobile studio to Moosemommas. Have you ever wanted to paint your own set of dinner ware or wonderful pasta bowls for Christmas gifts? Well, this workshop is just for you! Pick stylish pottery and Lisa will teach painting techniques, plus all about firing and glazing. All materials provided. SUCH FUN! Workshops only available Mon & Tues of each retreat.

COOKING WITH DOTTIE

"Comida de Mexicana" Spend the day cooking with Dottie in her festive kitchen discovering the flavors of Mexico: Chilies, Chipotle and cilantro. You'll create some of the national dishes like Chiles Rellenos, Carne Asada and variations of arroz & maize. Then enjoy the fruits of your labor with a fabulous Flan dessert as the Grand Finale'.

Chef Dottie Wilson has travelled throughout the world learning cooking techniques from wonderful chefs.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Join Ned for this over-the-top Photography workshop where you will get an overview of camers, special features, how to compose photos,shoot under special conditions, load the computer, work with photos on the computer, frame, type of paper and how to use with scrapbooking. Then spend the rest of the day, out-in-the-field, taking photos with his assistance. All this in a day. Wow! Everyone should sign up for this exciting workshop. Ned has taught art 32 years and has been a photographer for over 40 yrs. And his art can be seen at William Grant Gallery And others. BICYCLING

Sandpoint Sports has wonderful nostalgic bikes to rent with 1/2 day to full day rates. Bike across the Long Bridge on one of their beautiful Cruizers. We will pack you a lunch, as you ride the pavement. The scenery is gorgeous!

  • 1/2 day rates: $20.00 - 9 to 1 p.m.
  • Full day rates: $30.00

BOATING / BIRD WATCHING CRUISE

GRAND FINALE' - A 2 1/2 hr Boat Cruise on Beautiful Lake Pend Oreille aboard the Seagull Charters, with Capt. Ken. He will boat us thru an Eagle Sanctuary looking for eagles nesting, osprey, loons, comerants and more. Learn about the history and the geology of this pristine region. The total cost for the cruise is $170, so if there are 5 of you, that's $34.00 per person. Don't miss out on this, and be sure and bring your binoculars!!!

If you love trail riding, then you'll love this 3 hour ride on the trails up the mountain at Schweitzer. Breathtaking views of the Lake, mountains and streams. Moosemommas will provide you with a wonderful lunch for the day. Don't miss this one!

Reservation Policies

If you are interested in a MooseMommas Art Retreat, there are some things you will need to know. Please read this information carefully. If you have any questions, please email us, we'll be happy to explain our policies.

Reservations:

To make a reservation just fill out the registration form and e-mail back to Flume Creek Ranch, or make a copy and send it to our address at 1884 Flume Creek Road, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864, or call if you have questions: (208) 263-6502.

Cancellations & Refunds:

If a written cancellation is received by MooseMommas at Flume Creek Ranch 90 days prior to retreat, you will receive a full refund less a $150 service charge. Cancellation 60 days prior to retreat, you will receive a full refund less $350. Cancellation less than 60 days prior to retreat forfeits all registration fees.

Transfer Fees:

Up until 30 days prior to retreat, you may change your reservation for a $25 service fee.

Guest Responsibility:

You are responsible for bringing appropriate clothing and personal items. You are responsible for your own travel to and from MooseMommas at Flume Creek Ranch. You are asked to inform MooseMommas at Flume Creek Ranch of any medical conditions, allergies, heart problems, dietary needs or prescription drugs you take. Please include this information upon making your reservation. If you have a serious medical condition you should consult your doctor before joining us.

MooseMommas at Flume Creek Ranch Responsibility:

In the event of unforeseen conditions or insufficient reservations may necessitate retreat changes. The right is reserved to make such changes or cancel retreat if deemed advisable. The right is reserved to refuse, accept or retain any participant on any retreat at any time. If we cancel a retreat, we will fully refund your full payment or apply it to another retreat if you choose.

Gift Certificates:

You may purchase a gift certificate to be applied towards a retreat.

Moosemommas will be happy to accommodate your group if you wish to bring other artists in for workshops. We can tailor your retreat to make this the most enjoyable Get-A-Way ever. We will be happy to discuss your needs at any time. Thank you.
